| Richard Green has been working as a photojournalist and wedding photographer covering Monterey County for the last 32 years. He graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in photojournalism. Along his visual journey he has sharpened his skills working on tight deadlines, making people look great and making images that give the viewer the feeling of being there. His passion for photography can be seen in some of the portfolios posted here. He has divided them so you can easily see the many diverse types of photography he does. His stylized work includes weddings, portraits, wine & bottle, food, agriculture, vineyard, architecture and event photography. He also taught fine art photography at the local community college for 24 years where he introduced thousands of students to the beauty of black & white and the darkroom. He also includes a fine art portfolio of some of his work honoring master photographers Ansel Adams, who he studied under and Edward Weston. His wedding style is photojournalistic in nature, telling a story from the beginning of the wedding day to the end, but he also includes several classical wedding portraits, a style he learned from Ken Cook, a true master and mentor he works with and know for years. His portrait portfolio features both senior, families and groups and animals shot in the studio or on location. Other types of photography include wine and bottle shots, vineyard, food and agriculture that he has covered for years. He has been fortunate enough to have shot for some of the best wineries in Monterey County including Pisoni, Pessagno, Ventana, Talbot, Scheid and others. The wine and bottle portfolio features images of bottle shots taken in the studio or winery barrel room that have been lit to perfection, many of these images have been used for winery websites, calendars and advertising. Vineyard and agriculture portfolios both show off his work on location finding the right light and time of day or night to best show off clients products. He has shot for some of the largest produce companies including Dole, Fresh Express, Green Giant, Tanimura & Antle, Benguard, Royal Rose and others doing product shots in the studio and on location. Finally his event and photojournalism portfolios show off his style as a event photographer, shooting parties, events, openings etc. He has won dozens of awards for his photojournalism including a Pulitzer Prize nomination. He has shot just about every event and news story in the county including floods, fires, earthquakes, two wars and most importantly people doing everyday things.
