Read MoreTruck hits fire hydrant
California Water Service employees, wearing rain gear, turn turning off a valve as tens of thousands of gallons of water gush from a broken fire hydrant Monday afternoon. A truck sideswiped and broke off a fire-hydrant at the corner of West Alisal and Salinas Streets Monday afternoon sending water gushing almost two stories high and damaging the First Armory Building at 60 West Alisal Street. Water shooting up to the second floor window quickly started entering the building and seeping through to the law offices of attorney Christipher Alliotts. Salinas fire fighters quickly used tarps cover equipment in his office. It took almost 20 minutes for California Water Service to find the valve and shut off the water, by that time tens of thousands of gallons of water went down the drain.
